  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ⅛ tsp ground cloves
  • 4 medium golden delicious apples (or your choice)
  • 1/2 – 1 cup of walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar 
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup Canadian maple syrup (or whatever you have in your pantry)
  • ⅔ cup packed brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup heavy cream
  • Non-stick Spray

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Generously spray the inside of the bundt pan.

  • Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Allow cake to sit in pan on a wire rack until pan is cool to the touch.
  • Place a flat plate over the top of the bundt pan and gently flip it over onto a wire rack. Then slowly pull the bundt pan off of your apple cake.
  • Continue to cool the cake on a wire rack or serve it warm after topping it with the glaze.


  • In a medium saucepan, melt the remaining 1/3 cup butter over medium heat.
  • Add the remaining apples to the melted butter. Cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until softened.
  • Stir in brown sugar and cream.
  • Bring just to boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar. Turn down the heat and allow to simmer, uncovered, for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add chopped walnuts until heated through.
  • Remove pan from heat.
  • Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of maple syrup.
  • Allow to sit and cool slightly for approx 3 minutes.
  • Drizzle glaze over the cake with a spoon.
